225 ILCS 109/5: Declaration of public policy.

The practice of sex offender evaluation and treatment in Illinois is hereby declared to affect the public health, safety and welfare, and to be subject to regulations in the public interest. The purpose of this Act is to establish standards of qualifications for sex offender evaluators and sex offender treatment providers, thereby protecting the public from persons who are unauthorized or unqualified to represent themselves as licensed sex offender evaluators and sex offender treatment providers, and from unprofessional conduct by persons licensed to practice sex offender evaluation and treatment.
