40 ILCS 5/12-109: Service.

"Service": Employment by an employer in a position covered by this Article, including (a) actual employment in pay status, (b) periods of approved leaves of absence for which contributions are made by the employee, (c) periods of military service for which credit is granted, and (d) periods for which contribution credits are granted during disability.
