65 ILCS 5/2-4-7

No rights, duties, or privileges of such municipality, or those of any person, existing before the change of name, shall be affected by a change of name as provided by this Code. All proceedings pending in any court in favor of or against such municipality, may continue to final consummation under the name in which they were commenced.
