65 ILCS 5/7-2-5

Each municipality that becomes a part of a united city upon compliance with Section 7-2-1 shall thereafter be known as the Borough of .... (original name of municipality). A change of name of any borough may be effected, however, by a compliance with Sections 2-4-1 through 2-4-8.
