KRS 171.200: Department to administer and maintain improved cooperative and

integrated system of library service.

The Department for Libraries and Archives shall make and administer plans to lessen

inequalities of opportunity for library service, for the maintenan ce of an improved

cooperative and integrated system of library service throughout the state and for suitable

cooperative arrangements between public library systems, school library systems, college

and university libraries, special libraries, and other app ropriate state agencies. The

department may contract with, or provide grants to other public or private institutions or

corporations for the purpose of fulfilling the intent of this statute subject to the provisions

of KRS Chapters 45 and 45A.
