Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 221, § 11: Oath of clerk

Section 11. The clerk, assistant clerk, temporary clerk and temporary assistant clerk of a court shall be sworn before a justice thereof, who shall, upon administering the oaths of office, forthwith make return of such act with the date thereof to the state secretary.
