Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 248, § 7: Designation of custodian of prisoner

Section 7. The person who has the custody of the prisoner may be designated by his office or by his own name, or, if they are unknown or uncertain, he may be described by a fictitious name and the person upon whom the writ is served shall be held to be the person intended.
