Mich. Comp. Laws § 333.5401: “Chronic disease” defined; general definitions and principles of construction.

Sec. 5401.

As used in this part, "chronic disease" includes an impairment or deviation from normal having 1 or more of the following characteristics:

It is permanent.

It leaves residual disability.

It is caused by nonreversible pathological alterations.

It requires special training of the patient for rehabilitation.

It may be expected to require a long period of supervision, observation, or care.

In addition, article 1 contains general definitions and principles of construction applicable to all articles in this code and part 51 contains definitions applicable to this part.
