Mich. Comp. Laws § 400.731a: Person sentenced to perform community service.

Sec. 31a.

In addition to or as an alternative to imposing a term of imprisonment under this act, the court may sentence the person to perform community service as follows:

If the person is convicted of a felony, community service for not more than 160 days.

If the person is convicted of a misdemeanor, community service for not more than 80 days.

For purposes of this section, community service shall not include activities involving interaction with or care of vulnerable adults.

A person sentenced to perform community service under this section shall not receive compensation, and shall reimburse the state or appropriate local unit of government for the cost of supervision incurred by the state or local unit of government as a result of the person's activities in that service.
