Mich. Comp. Laws § 600.582: Sheriff and deputy; officers of court; powers; disobedience or default.

Sec. 582.

The sheriff and his deputies:

are officers of the court for the purpose of executing the process of the court;

may execute all lawful orders and process of the court in any county of the state;

to whom process is directed may be punished for disobedience or default therein in the manner prescribed by law.
