Mich. Comp. Laws § 791.504: Council members; terms; appointment; vacancy; reappointment.

Sec. 4.

All members of the council shall hold office for a term of 3 years. Successors shall be appointed in the same manner as the original appointment.

A person appointed as a member to fill a vacancy created other than by expiration of a term shall be appointed in the same manner as the original appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term of the member whom the person is to succeed.

Any member may be reappointed for additional terms.
