Mich. Comp. Laws § 791.536: Holding public office or employment; disqualification prohibited.

Sec. 6.

A member of the council shall not be disqualified from holding any public office or employment by reason of his or her appointment or membership on the council and shall not forfeit that public office or employment by reason of his or her appointment to the council, notwithstanding the provisions of any general, special, or local law, ordinance, or city charter.
