Mo. Rev. Stat. § 41.320: Officers — separation from service — reasons.

In addition to retirement as provided in section 41.310, an officer may be separated from the service by reason of death, resignation, discharge for inefficiency, discharge for physical disqualification, absence without leave, dismissal by sentence of a general court-martial or withdrawal of federal recognition.
