Whenever an active or retired fireman shall die, as aforesaid, the board of trustees may appropriate a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars for funeral expenses, to be paid out of the pension fund and may expend a sum not exceeding fifty dollars, to be drawn from the pension fund, for the expenses of the attendance of the firemen at said funeral.
