25-13-502: Debts owed to judgment debtor.

After the issuing of an execution against property and before its return, a person indebted to the judgment debtor may pay to the sheriff the amount of the person's debt or as much of the debt as is necessary to satisfy the execution. The sheriff's receipt is sufficient discharge for the amount paid.
