7-3-160: Election of new officials -- subsequent elections of officials.

(1) Within 20 days after an election at which a new form of government or a change in a plan of government is approved by the electors, the governing body of the local government shall meet and order an election for the purpose of electing the officials required by the new form or plan of government. The first election for officials must be conducted in accordance with Title 13, chapter 1, part 4. A primary election may not be held. The officials elected shall hold office until the next election of officials.

(2) Each subsequent election of officials must involve a primary election and a general election. The primary election must be held on the date established in 13-1-107. The general election must be held on the date established in 13-1-104.
