N.J. Stat. § 45:5B-27.1: Textured hair, subject matter to be tested on, examination.

4. The examination required of an applicant for licensure in cosmetology-hairstyling, beauty culture, barbering, or hair braiding shall include textured hair as part of the subject matter upon which the applicant is tested. The testing shall be part of the written and practical portions of the examination.
