NRS 284.147: Unclassified service: Heads of departments may employ deputies and employees necessary to fill unclassified positions; salaries.

Unless otherwise provided by law, elective officers and the heads of the several state departments, agencies and institutions in the Executive Department of the State Government are authorized to employ at or below the salaries specified by law the deputies and employees necessary to fill the unclassified positions authorized by law for their departments.
