§ 97. Appropriations under article, how made. The proper local

authorities of each city in which a police matron has been appointed

shall appropriate annually such sum as may be needed for the separate

care and confinement in station houses of any women arrested in such

city, and for the appointment, salary and maintenance of police matrons

for the purposes of this article.
