N.Y. Legislative Law § 39: Duty of the secretary and clerk under article

§ 39. Duty of the secretary and clerk under article. It shall be the

duty of the secretary and clerk of the house, as the case may be, to

take charge of and keep on file the original of any request, petition,

concurring petition, joint petition, perfected joint or concurring

petition, record or other document issued by or returned to them

pursuant to or in the course of the discharge of their duties imposed by

this article.
