N.Y.C. Admin. Code § 28-211.2: § 28-211.2 Falsely impersonating a department officer, inspector or employee.

It shall be unlawful for any person to falsely represent himself or herself as an officer, inspector or employee of the department, or as acting under the authority of the department, or without authority to use, wear or display a shield or other insignia or emblem such as is worn by such officer, inspector or employee.
