N.Y.C. Admin. Code § FC 5808: Section FC 5808: Hydrogen Fuel Gas Rooms*

5808.1 Scope.

This section shall govern the generation, storage, handling and use of gaseous hydrogen.

5808.2 General.

Devices, equipment and systems designed or used to generate gaseous hydrogen shall be installed and operated in hydrogen fuel gas rooms, except as otherwise provided in this code or approved by the department.

5808.3 Prohibition.

It shall be unlawful to:

1. install or operate devices, equipment or systems that generate gaseous hydrogen in any location other than a hydrogen fuel gas room, except as otherwise provided by this code or approved by the department.

2. install or operate devices, equipment or systems that generate gaseous hydrogen for purposes other than immediate use and incidental storage, except as otherwise provided in this code or approved by the department.

3. install or operate a hydrogen fuel gas room below grade.

5808.4 Design and installation.

Hydrogen fuel gas rooms shall be designed and installed in accordance with the Building Code and NFPA 2. Design and installation documents shall be submitted for review and approval to the Department of Buildings and the department.
