409.1 Approval.

Commercial dishwashing machines shall conform to ASSE 1004 and NSF 3. Commercial dishwashing machines with integral gas-fired heating must be tested and evaluated in accordance with UL 921.

409.2 Water connection.

The water supply to a dishwashing machine shall be protected against backflow by an air gap that is integral with the machine or a backflow preventer shall be installed in accordance with Section
