SDCL § 3-12C-112: Vested defined.

For purposes of this chapter, "vested" means the right to a retirement benefit from the system, as provided for in this chapter, after three years of contributory service or noncontributory service, even if the member leaves the employment of a participating unit, provided the member does not withdraw accumulated contributions.
