SDCL § 9-14-12: Officer appointed by governing board--Removal from office.

Except as otherwise provided, any appointed officer of a municipality governed by a board of commissioners or board of trustees may be removed by a majority vote of all members of the governing body who are qualified to serve on the governing body by election or appointment pursuant to chapter 9-13.
