(a) It is the duty of the chair of the local board of education to: (1) Preside at all meetings of the board; (2) Appoint committees authorized by the board; (3) Serve as chair of the executive committee; and (4) Countersign all warrants authorized by the board of education and issued by the director of schools for all expenditures of the school system. (b) This section does not apply to an innovative school district as defined in § 49-8-1502 . Amended by 2024 Tenn.
