(a) An institution of higher education shall, using an assessment instrument designated by the board under Section 51.334, assess the academic skills of each entering undergraduate student to determine the student's readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework.
(b) An institution of higher education may not use the assessment required under this section or the results of the assessment as a condition of admission to the institution.
