(a) An individual is eligible to serve as a director of a farm mutual insurance company if the individual is a policyholder who maintains insurance coverage in the amount of at least $3,000 written by the company on the individual's property.

(b) Except as otherwise provided by the company's bylaws or constitution, a director serves for a term of one year or until the director's successor qualifies for office.
