The Tax Commissioner may, subject to the provisions of the Virginia Personnel Act (§ 2.2-2900 et seq.), employ and remove such assistants and clerks as may from time to time be necessary, prescribe their duties and fix their compensation.Code 1950, §§ 58-30, 58-441.42; 1966, c. 151; 1984, c. 675.
