Va. Code § 58.1-3144: Penalties

Any treasurer who knowingly violates any provision of this article relating to the county or city levy, for which a specific penalty is not otherwise provided, shall be deemed guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be removed from office. In addition, he and the sureties on his official bond shall be liable to the party aggrieved thereby for double damages for the injury sustained.Code 1950, § 58-932; 1984, c. 675.
