24 V.S.A. App. ch. 126, § 23: Qualifications of officers

All elected officers shall be legally qualified voters of the Town, with the exception that one of the five Trustees of the Cobleigh Library may live outside the Town. All elected officers shall hold office for the terms specified in this charter and until their successors are elected and qualified.
