Wis. Stat. § 15.78: Public defender board.

There is created a public defender board consisting of 9 members appointed for staggered 3-year terms. No member may be, or be employed on the staff of, a judicial or law enforcement officer, district attorney, corporation counsel, or the state public defender. At least 5 members shall be members of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
