The St. Clair County Commission may grant and pay to each former St. Clair County Sheriff or Revenue Commissioner serving in a supernumerary office the same cost-of-living increase or lump-sum payment paid to retirees of the county who are retired under the State Employees’ Retirement System, provided the payments to the retirees of the county have been approved by the county commission. The supernumerary retirement payment shall be approved and paid under the same terms and conditions as cost-of-living or lump-sum payments are paid to retirees of the county only when approved by the county commission for any fiscal year that the payments are paid to retirees of the county. The supernumerary retirement payments shall be paid from the general fund of the county.
