D.C. Code § 9-203.02: Methods of acquisition.

Any land used for the purpose of opening, extending, widening, or straightening any street, minor street, or alley pursuant to § 9-203.01 may be acquired by:

(1)

Purchase;

(2)

Condemnation pursuant to Chapter 13 of Title 16; or

(3)

Acceptance by the Council of a dedication of land; provided, that if the land is to be acquired for a Federal Aid Highway project, the person offering to dedicate the land must be informed of his or her right to compensation for it.
