815 ILCS 404/15: Violations.

(a) A violation of this Act shall be a petty offense and may be fined as follows:

(1) for a first violation, a fine not to exceed $50;

(2) for a second violation within a 12-month period, a fine not to exceed $100;

(3) for a third violation within a 12-month period, and any additional violation within a 12-month period, a fine not to exceed $500.

No person shall be fined more than $5,000 in a calendar year for violations of this Section.

(b) A violation of this Act shall be prosecuted by the State's Attorney of the county in which the violation occurred as a petty offense.
