KRS 97.030: Creation of board to administer recreation facilities.

If the legislative body of any city or fiscal court of any county determines that the power

to provide, conduct and maintain parks, playgrounds and recreation centers shall be

exercised by a playground and recreation board, or a parks, playground and recre ation

board, the legislative body of the city or fiscal court may, by resolution or ordinance,

establish a playground and recreation board, or a parks, playground and recreation board,

which shall possess all the powers and be subject to all the responsibilities of KRS 97.010

to 97.050. The board shall consist of five (5) persons to be appointed by the mayor or

county judge/executive, to serve for terms of four (4) years and until their successors are

appointed, except that the members first appointed shall be one (1) for one (1) year, one

(1) for two (2) years, one (1) for three (3) years and two (2) for four (4) years. Vacancies

shall be filled in the same manner as original appointments and for the unexpired term.
