Sec. 879.

A probate judge, probate register, clerk, or employee of the probate court shall not receive or accept any compensation whatever for collecting from a fiduciary or estate any fees for the publishing of a notice or matter required in a proceeding in the probate court.

A probate judge shall not collect or receive any fee from, or charge any costs to, a person unless the payment of the fee or costs is expressly authorized by law. A person violating this section is guilty of malfeasance in office.
