Mo. Rev. Stat. § 528.490: Summons may be directed to whom — how served.

Upon the filing of such petition, the clerk shall issue a summons, directed to the sheriff of each county in this state in which any defendant resides, with a copy of the petition, which shall be served as in ordinary civil cases.
