A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to prohibiting the sale and possession of electronic stun guns

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

Section 1. Legislative findings. It is hereby declared and found that the possession of electronic stun guns is a menace to the public health, peace, safety and welfare of the people of the city and that the possession of such electronic stun guns may result in the commission of many assaults and other crimes upon the people of the city. These devices may be used by criminals lo subdue and disable their victims while engaged in the commission of crimes against them. Therefore, the sale und possession of such electronic stun guns should be prohibited in the city of New York.

§ 3. This local law shall take effect sixty days after its enactment.
